Spring Orientation 2019

The spring semester at AKP is off to a great start! During last week’s orientation, new students met their host families at our annual New Year’s Party. Maria Hidalgo Romero (Williams) and Fernando Barcelo (Pomona) represented the spring students and introduced themselves in Japanese on stage. Awesome job, guys!

As part of AKP’s orientation self defense workshop, students learned some judo moves from a police officer. They also learned proper bicycle traffic rules and etiquette, as bicycles are a useful mode of transportation in Kyoto!

Last but not least, students took their Japanese placement tests. The Japanese faculty create a new curriculum every year to build on the knowledge of current students, so and the placement test is an important part of gauging how to construct AKP’s courses!

Have a great semester, everyone!
